The total export value of Lampung Province in December 2009 reached US$ 220.98 million or an increase of US$ 19.8 million (9.82%) compared to exports in November 2009. When compared with December 2008, it experienced an increase of US$ 26.56 million ( 13.66%) of US$ 194.42 million. Cumulatively, the export value of Lampung Province from January to December 2009 reached US$ 2.29 billion or decreased by 15.91% compared to the same period in 2008.
Seven main categories of goods experienced an increase in export value in December 2009. The largest increase in exports occurred in the category of animal/vegetable fats & oils, increasing by US$ 11.57 million; cocoa/chocolate increased by US$ 9.43 million; and fish and shrimp increased by US$ 1.53 million. Meanwhile, three other main categories of goods experienced a decline in export value, especially coffee, tea, spices which fell by US$ 5.58 million and pulp/pulp which fell by US$ 4.75 million.
Lampung Province's non-oil and gas import value in December 2009 reached US$ 44.43 million or an increase of US$ 7.11 million (19.06%) compared to November 2009 which was recorded at US$ 37.32 million. The import value for the January-December 2009 period reached US$ 485.85 million or decreased by US$ 232.80 million (-32.39%) compared to the same period in 2008.
The largest increase in imports occurred in the mechanical machinery/aircraft category, which rose by US$ 8.20 million, oil seeds rose by US$ 3.55 million, and electrical machinery/equipment rose by US$ 3.44 million. Of the 10 main categories of imported goods, five categories of goods experienced an increase and five others experienced a decrease. The biggest decline in imports occurred in live animals which fell by US$ 5.66 million and fertilizer fell by US$ 2.69 million.
