Development of Exports and Imports of Lampung Province May 2009

The total export value of Lampung Province in May 2009 reached US$ 199.63 million or experienced an increase of US$ 52.59 million (35.77 percent) compared to April 2009 exports, while compared to May 2008 it experienced a decrease of US$ 43.16 million (17, 78 percent) of US$ 242.79 million. Cumulatively, the export value of Lampung Province from January to May 2009 reached US$ 834.12 million or decreased by 24.62 percent compared to the same period in 2008.
A fairly high decline in exports occurred in processed fruits/vegetables at US$ 14.68 million and organic chemicals at US$ 9.47 million. Meanwhile, the highest increase in exports in May 2009 occurred in animal/vegetable fats & oils at US$ 62.59 million, coffee, tea and spices at US$ 27.12 million, and cocoa/chocolate at US$ 9.94 million.
In the January-May 2009 period, the export value of animal/vegetable fats and oils; coffee, tea, and spices; processed fruits/vegetables and fish and shrimp have a relatively large contribution, namely 20.35 percent each; 18.15 percent; 7.71 percent; and 7.45 percent of the total exports of Lampung Province for the period January-May 2009. The role of these four groups reached 53.66 percent of the total export value in the same period.
Exports to the United States in May 2009 reached the largest figure, namely US$ 20.18 million, followed by Japan, China and the Netherlands respectively at US$ 17.28 million, US$ 16.79 million and US$ 14.06 million and the role the four of them reached 34.2 percent of total exports that month.
