Abstract

Lampung Province NTP September 2009 for each subsector was recorded at 115.59 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 96.18 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 107.31 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 106.12 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 115.26 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 109.52, which was an increase of 0.65 percent compared to the previous month, namely 108.81.

The increase in NTP of 0.65 percent occurred because the index received by farmers increased by 1.64 percent, which was greater than the index paid by farmers which increased by 0.98 percent. The increase in Lampung Province's NTP was caused by a fairly high increase in commodity prices in the horticulture, smallholder plantation crops and livestock sub-sectors. If the NTP per subsector in September 2009 is compared with August 2009, it can be seen that four of the five NTP subsectors have increased, namely the horticultural crops subsector (3.64%), smallholder plantation crops (1.70%), livestock (1.93%) , and fisheries (0.05%). Meanwhile, another subsector, namely the rice and secondary crops subsector, experienced a decline of 0.82 percent.

Of the 32 provinces reported in September 2009, 24 provinces experienced an increase in the index and 8 provinces experienced a decrease in the index. The highest increase in NTP in September 2009 occurred in South Kalimantan Province, namely 1.60 percent, due to the increase in prices received by farmers in all subsectors. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in Maluku, namely a decrease of 1.14 percent, because the prices received by farmers in four subsectors were lower than the prices they had to pay.

In September 2009, inflation occurred in rural areas in Lampung Province of 1.25 percent due to the increase in the price index in three groups of farmer expenditures, namely: foodstuffs (1.86%), prepared foods (1.68%), and clothing (0 .46%). One group experienced a decrease in the index, namely the housing materials group (0.03%), and three other groups did not experience a change in the index, namely the health, education, recreation and sports and transportation & communication groups.
