Abstract

The NTP for Lampung Province in August 2009 for each subsector was recorded at 116.54 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 92.80 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 105.51 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 104.10 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 115.20 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 108.81, which was an increase of 0.345 percent compared to the previous month, namely 108.44.

The increase in NTP of 0.34 percent occurred because the index received by farmers increased by 1.12 percent, which was greater than the index paid by farmers which increased by 0.77 percent. The commodities that triggered the increase in the index received by Lampung Province farmers in August 2009 were in particular the increase in commodity prices for ground dry grain, soybeans, dry coffee beans, rubber, pepper, cloves, tuna, flying fish and mackerel.

If the NTP per subsector in August 2009 is compared with July 2009, it can be seen that three of the five NTP subsectors have increased, namely the rice and secondary crops subsector (1.01%), smallholder plantation crops (2.99%), and fisheries (0, 41%). Meanwhile, the other two subsectors, namely the horticultural crops and livestock subsectors, experienced a decline of 3.06 and 1.84 percent respectively.

Of the 32 provinces reported in August 2009, 21 provinces experienced an increase in the index, 10 provinces experienced a decrease in the index, and 1 province experienced no change. The highest increase in NTP in August 2009 occurred in West Sumatra Province, namely 2.22 percent, due to the increase in prices received by farmers in the five existing subsectors. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in West Papua, namely a decrease of 1.90 percent, due to the decline in prices received by farmers in the five existing subsectors.

In August 2009, inflation occurred in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 0.90 percent due to the increase in the price index in five farmer expenditure groups, namely: foodstuffs (0.58%), prepared foods (2.16%), housing (1, 78%), clothing (0.30%), and health (1.12%). Meanwhile, the other two groups did not experience changes in the index, namely the education, recreation and sports group and the transportation & communication group.
