Abstract

The total export value of Lampung Province in May 2012 reached US$256 million or an increase of US$21.3 million (9.06%) compared to April 2012 exports which were recorded at US$234.7 million. Exports in May 2012, when compared with May 2011, fell US$65.4 million (20.35%) from US$321.4 million.

Eight main categories of goods experienced an increase in export value in May 2012, namely coffee, tea, spices which increased by US$ 19.4 million; rubber and rubber goods US$6.7 million; animal/vegetable fats & oils US$6.5 million; cocoa/chocolate US$5.8 million; processed fruit/vegetables US$3.5 million; wood, wooden goods US$0.9 million; organic chemicals US$0.4 million and processed meat and fish US$0.2 million. The two main categories of goods that experienced a decline in export value were fish and shrimp at US$3.4 million; and wood pulp/pulp US$0.2 million.

The largest contribution to export value in May 2012 occurred in animal/vegetable fats and oils; coffee, tea, and spices; rubber and rubber goods; and processed fruit/vegetables, each contributing 29.84%; 17.60%; 8.54%; and 6.52% of total exports in May 2012 in Lampung Province. The role of these four groups reached 62.51% of the total export value in the same period.

The main destination country for exports in May 2012 was India, which reached US$ 28.2 million, followed by the United States, Spain and Japan, valued at US$ 27.5 million, US$ 25.8 million and US$ 24.4 million respectively. The role of the four reached 41.35% of total exports that month.
