Abstract

Lampung Province NTP April 2011 for each subsector was recorded at 127.30 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 108.14 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 119.10 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 106.16 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 112.45 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 119.24.

The increase in prices in the sub-sector of smallholder plantation crops, such as the price of rubber, as well as the increase in prices in the sub-sector of horticultural crops, such as bananas, made Lampung's NTP increase 0.85 percent compared to the previous month.

If the NTP per sub-sector in April 2011 is compared with March 2011, it can be seen that all NTP sub-sectors have increased, the food crops sub-sector rose 0.37 percent, the horticultural crops sector 0.86 percent, the smallholder plantation crops sub-sector rose 2.57 percent, the livestock sub-sector rose 0.52 percent, and the fisheries sub-sector rose 0.20 percent.

Of the 32 provinces, 23 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 9 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP occurred in South Sumatra Province, namely 1.72 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers fell by 0.46 percent while the price received by farmers rose by 1.25 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in Gorontalo Province, which fell by 0.96 percent, due to an increase in prices paid by farmers of 0.87 percent while the prices received by farmers actually fell by 0.10 percent.

April 2011 saw deflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 0.57 percent. Deflation in rural areas was mainly caused by the decline in the price index for the foodstuffs group. The decline in the index also occurred in the foodstuffs and health group, while other groups experienced an increase in the index.
