Lampung Province NTP in February 2010 for each subsector was recorded at 118.39 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 99.77 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 111.70 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr), 104.13 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.93 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 112.04, which increased by 0.21 percent compared to the previous month (January 2010), which was 111.80.
The increase in NTP by 0.21 percent occurred due to the increase in the prices of various agricultural commodities such as the price of vegetables and fruits, and the increase in the price of fishery commodities.
When comparing the NTP per subsector in February 2010 with January 2010, it can be seen that two of the five NTP subsectors experienced an increase, namely the horticulture subsector (3.00%), and the fisheries subsector (0.03%). Meanwhile, three subsectors experienced a decrease, namely food crops which fell by (0.29%), the people's plantation subsector (0.40%) percent, and the livestock subsector (0.41%).
Of the 32 provinces reported in February 2010, 17 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 15 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP in February 2010 occurred in South Sumatra Province, which was 1.65 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.44 percent and the price received by farmers increased by 2.17 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decrease in NTP occurred in Central Sulawesi which fell by 1.20 percent, because there was an increase in the price paid by farmers by 0.68 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 1.03 percent.
In February 2010, there was still inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province of 0.53 percent. This is in line with urban inflation that occurred in Bandar Lampung City of 0.54 percent in February 2010. Inflation in rural areas was caused by the increase in the price index in five groups of farmer expenditure, namely: Foodstuffs, Prepared Food, Housing, Health, Transportation and Communication. Meanwhile, two other groups of expenditure experienced a decrease in the index, namely the Clothing group, and the Education, Recreation & Sports group.
