Abstract

Lampung Province NTP in December 2009 for each subsector was recorded at 118.60 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 94.53 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 112.73 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr), 105.49 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 115.28 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 111.55, which increased by 0.45 percent compared to the previous month, which was 111.05.

The increase in NTP by 0.45 percent occurred due to the increase in the prices of various agricultural commodities such as the price of rice which tends to increase during the gadu season, the price of plantation commodities which is still high along with the high price of chocolate on the world market, and the increase in the price of vegetables and fruits.

When comparing the NTP per subsector in December 2009 with November 2009, it can be seen that three out of five NTP subsectors experienced an increase, namely the food crop subsector (0.22%), the horticulture subsector (0.21), and the people's plantation subsector (2.38%). Meanwhile, two subsectors experienced a decrease, namely the livestock subsector which fell by (0.58) percent, and the fisheries subsector (0.95%).

Of the 32 provinces reported in December 2009, 20 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 12 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP in December 2009 occurred in North Sumatra Province, which was 1.02 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.10 percent while the price received by farmers increased by 1.12 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decrease in NTP occurred in Maluku which fell by 1.13 percent, because there was an increase in the price paid by farmers by 0.96 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 0.18 percent.

In December 2009, there was still inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province of 0.30 percent. This is in line with what happened in Bandar Lampung City because in December there was inflation of 0.25 percent. Inflation in rural areas was caused by the increase in the price index in six groups of farmer expenditure, namely: processed food, housing, clothing, health, education, recreation & sports, transportation and communication. Meanwhile, one group experienced a decrease in the index, namely the Foodstuffs group.
