Abstract

Lampung Province NTP in January 2010 for each subsector was recorded at 118.73 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 96.86 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 112.15 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr), 104.56 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.90 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 111.80, which increased by 0.23 percent compared to the previous month (December 2009), which was 111.55.

The increase in NTP by 0.23 percent occurred due to the increase in the prices of various agricultural commodities such as the price of rice which tends to increase during the gadu season, and the increase in the prices of vegetables and fruits.

When comparing the NTP per subsector in January 2010 with December 2009, it can be seen that two of the five NTP subsectors experienced an increase, namely the food crop subsector (0.11%), and the horticulture subsector (2.47%). Meanwhile, three subsectors experienced a decrease, namely the people's plantation crops which fell by (0.51%), the livestock subsector (0.88%) percent, and the fisheries subsector (0.33%).

Of the 32 provinces reported in January 2010, 12 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 20 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP in January 2010 occurred in the DI Yogyakarta Province, which was 1.30 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.54 percent and the price received by farmers increased by 1.85 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decrease in NTP occurred in West Sulawesi which fell by 0.89 percent, because there was an increase in the price paid by farmers by 0.59 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 0.30 percent.

In January 2010, inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province was still 0.48 percent. This is in line with urban inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.49 percent in January 2010. Inflation in rural areas was caused by an increase in the price index in five groups of farmer expenditure, namely: Foodstuffs, Prepared Food, Housing, Health, Transportation and Communication. Meanwhile, one group experienced a decrease in the index, namely the Clothing group, and one group that did not experience any change, namely Education, Recreation & Sports.
