Abstract

At the end of 2009, although there was an increase in several commodities with high consumption value, such as filtered cigarettes, rice and granulated sugar, there were several other commodities such as red chilies, several types of fresh fish and some electronic goods such as televisions and VCD/DVD players. experiencing a significant decline in prices, causing deflation in the city of Bandar Lampung of 0.25 percent. The group that contributed the most to deflation was the foodstuffs group, mainly due to the decline in prices of red chilies, spinach, mackerel, flying fish, cayenne pepper and several other commodities. Apart from foodstuffs, several other groups also experienced deflation, namely the housing group, the health services group and the education, recreation and sports group. Several commodities in the ready-made food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco and clothing groups also experienced price declines.
