Abstract

January 2020, Bandar Lampung City experienced inflation of 0.86 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.35 in December 2019 to 105.25 in January 2020. Of the eleven expenditure groups in Bandar Lampung City, five groups experienced inflation (increase in index), namely the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.97 percent; health group 0.54 percent; the personal care and other services group 0.36 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance 0.14 percent; and the recreation, sport and culture group 0.08 percent. In contrast, the clothing and footwear group experienced deflation of 0.14 percent; and transportation 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, housing, ir, electricity, gas and other fuels; information, communication and financial services groups; education group; and food and beverage / restaurant supply groups; no change in index.

The dominant commodities that contributed to the formation of inflation in January 2020 include: red chili by 0.32 percent; filter clove cigarettes 0.12 percent; cayenne pepper 0.11 percent; cooking oil 0.11 percent; shallots 0.06 percent; white cigarettes 0.05 percent; rice 0.03 percent; garlic 0.03 percent; car 0.02 percent; and 0.02 percent clove cigarettes.

In January 2020, Bandar Lampung inflation was ranked 9th out of 90 cities whose price development was observed. Of the 90 cities, 79 cities experienced inflation and 11 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Meulaboh by 1.44 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Gorontalo by 0.03 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau by 1.39 percent, and the lowest deflation occurred in Kudus by 0.01 percent.
