Abstract

The number of poor people in Lampung in March 2013 reached 1,163.06 thousand people (14.86 percent), a decrease of 55.9 thousand people (0.79 percent) compared to the poor population in September 2012 which was 1,218.99 thousand people (15, 65 percent).

During the period September 2012 - March 2013, the poor population in urban areas decreased by around 4.9 thousand people (from 237.94 thousand people in September 2012 to 2 33.01 thousand people in March 2013), as meanwhile in rural areas it decreased by 51.0 thousand people (from 9 81.06 thousand people in September 2012 to 930.05 thousand people in March 2013).

The poor population in urban areas in September 2012 was 11.88 percent, decreasing to 11.59 percent in March 2013. Likewise with the poor population in rural areas, namely from 16.96 percent in September 2012 to 16.00 percent in March 2013.

The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education and health). In March 2013, the contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line was 75.77 percent, almost the same as September 2012 which was 76.20 percent.

Food commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in urban areas are rice, filter clove cigarettes, tempeh and purebred chicken eggs. Meanwhile, commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in rural areas are rice, granulated sugar, tempeh, filtered cigarettes and shallots. Non-food commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in urban areas are housing, electricity, petrol, education and transportation, while in rural areas it is housing, petrol, electricity, firewood and toiletries.

In the period September 2012 - March 2013, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) showed an improving trend. Where the Poverty Depth Index in March 2013 was 2.272 lower than the September 2012 condition of 2.528. Likewise, the Poverty Severity Index in March 2013 was 0.522 lower than the September 2012 condition, namely 0.624
